The Ceilidhs:
Our annual fund raising ceilidh at Caerleon Town Hall is always popular and we get fabulous raffle prizes donated.
A very special thank you to Tony Willicombe who donated a meal for two at the Bell Inn again this year, as well as generously
donating towards the bar costs. If you have never eaten at the Bell and you like good food, then you really should make a visit.
Miguel Santiago, in the past, has also donated a meal for two at the fabulous Priory Hotel. In past years we have had wonderful
raffle donations from Dr Russell Reece, Sue Oats, Peter Beaven at Floralia, Ruth and Andy Smith, Marjorie Vousden, Daniel & Holman Wo and many others.
Alan Whitely, who has now retired, has always been very generous. Dave Lewis, who has now taken over from Alan, in the running of the Town Hall,
has made us very welcome. Julie Page and her wonderful dancers, Alive and Kicking have supported us in the past by performing for free.
Other generous donators are Greville & Nicola Hunt, caller Dave Parsons, caller Stuart Montgomery and this year’s caller John Witcher.
So if the Dai Bach band are playing the music then who runs the Ceilidh? Well actually the Dai Bach band members extend well
beyond just the musicians. Running the door are Ruth and Andy Smith from Newport Folk Club, along with Nigel and Nita Whitehead.
The bar is run by Dave and Lyn Moses, Chris and Rosemary Gardner and Chris and Brian Hockey. Nearly all these members have now volunteered
their services for four years in a row. Lol Lutman organised the food this year with Lyn Moses's help. Henry Lutman , designs and prints the tickets and posters for Ceilidhs, as well as looking after
this web site.
