The Dai Bach Band Palm Trees

The Dai Bach Band?

The Dai Bach band has actually played together for around the last 30 years but not always under that name.   The core band members are Marcus & Pauline Butler, Sue Cleaves, Dave Cox, Greg & Pat Morgan and Henry & Lol Lutman and Greville Hunt and they have been playing on and off together since the beginning of time.
With the advent of the Tsunami in December 2004 they decided that it would be a good idea to run their very own ceilidh to raise funds for the relief effort.   Ever since then they have organised a ceilidh every February to raise money for good causes.
Marcus, Sue, Dave, Greg and Pat were known over the last 20 years as “Doed a Ddell” and still occasionally play under that name.   Dave was one of the famous duo “Bodhran Bodhran” and Henry , Lol and Grev are from the infamous concert band “The Devils Elbow” which thankfully is no longer around.   Lol also plays her big concert harp with “Conspirito” and solo at weddings and other events. (She only uses her small harp at ceilidhs).

If you would like to meet and listen to the band in their unplugged mode then turn up at the Bell Inn, Caerleon on a Wednesday evening for their weekly session.   They play between the hours of 21.00 and 23.00 and if you want to join in and bring an instrument then ring Marcus, Sue or Dave at Marcus Music first on 01633 815612.   Remember that this session is dedicated to celtic dance music (with a small proportion of English) and is not for singers, although it has been known in the past, for the odd song to be smuggled in.
